Marcus' journey to founding Elite Business Exchange began with a foundation of service and leadership forged in the U.S. military. With multiple combat deployments, Marcus developed a unique skill set for leading teams in complex and high-pressure environments, building an unwavering focus on mission success, strategic planning, and the ability to inspire others to excel under challenging conditions.
After transitioning out of active-duty service, Marcus continued his career in the National Guard, where he led teams during national emergencies, including Hurricane Katrina, the Joplin tornadoes, and civil unrest in Ferguson, Missouri. He retired with over 20 years of military service, leaving behind a legacy of leadership, resilience, and dedication.
Beyond his military career, Marcus remained committed to serving his brothers and sisters in arms. He worked as the Executive Director for The Byron House, a nonprofit organization focused on supporting veterans. He then spent nearly a decade serving as an Accredited Veterans Service Officer (VSO), where he gained extensive experience advocating for veterans’ benefits. His role required working closely with senators, congressmen, and VA law judges, helping countless service members navigate the complexities of the benefits system.
Today, Marcus serves as the Chairman of the Homeless Veterans Task Force, leading initiatives aimed at reducing veteran homelessness and improving the quality of life for veterans in need. He also hosts a monthly radio program where he discusses veteran benefits and issues, ensuring that veterans and their families remain informed and empowered.
In addition to his extensive experience serving veterans, Marcus is a seasoned business broker, real estate investor and entrepreneur. His involvement in the real estate industry gives him a keen understanding of business valuation, asset management, and investment strategies, which he applies to his entrepreneurial ventures. His most notable success prior to Elite Business Exchange was as the co-founder of My City To Go, a web-based online ordering platform created to help small, independent restaurants establish online ordering and delivery services long before the advent of Uber Eats or DoorDash. This innovative platform was designed to level the playing field for mom-and-pop restaurants by providing them with the technology and support they needed to compete with larger chains, making My City To Go a pioneer in the food delivery industry. The business achieved significant growth, resulting in a successful exit for Marcus and his partners.
After working for a traditional brokerage and recognizing a gap in the business brokerage industry, Marcus then set out to operate independently, developing his own methodologies for valuing businesses, managing listings, and negotiating deals. It was through these experiences that the idea for Elite Business Exchange was born. He knew there had to be a better way to support business brokers—a way that would leverage technology to streamline the entire process, reduce inefficiencies, and allow brokers to focus on what they do best: connecting buyers and sellers.
With Elite Business Exchange, Marcus is combining his leadership experience, management skills, and entrepreneurial background to create a powerful platform designed specifically for the needs of modern brokers.
